The Sleepy Eye Bike Share Program is a seasonal bike sharing system available for use from spring to fall. Six bikes, featuring solar-powered Bluetooth locks, plush comfort seats, Shimano® 7-speed internal gearing and puncture-resistant tires, are located at a docking station at Sportsman’s Park, providing easy access to the trail for community members, park visitors and campers from sunrise to sunset.
The program began June of 2017 after a group of health-conscious SEMC employees suggested the idea to SEMC administration as well as the Sleepy Eye Healthcare Foundation. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to promote healthy activity and recreation in the community.
How do I rent a bike?
- Download the “Movatic” rider App on an iOS or Android device. The App includes a billing module to collect rider fees via credit or debit card.
- Enter your payment information.
- Connect to Bluetooth.
- Select an available bike and begin rental.
- When finished, park the bike in an available rack and end the rental from the App.
Step-by-step user instructions are available at the docking station. In addition, bike helmets can be purchased at SEMC during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. SEMC encourages all bikers to wear a helmet and follow the rules of the road.
How much is a rental?
Bikes cost $2.00 per bike rental, plus $0.50 per half hour used.
What if I experience an issue?
If you experience an issue while renting or riding a bike, please submit a ticket via the Movatic App. Tickets are reviewed once a day, Monday through Friday.
Where can I ride the bike?
Bikes may be used around the Sleepy Eye Bike Trail and within city limits.
This program was made possible through funding provided by the Sleepy Eye Healthcare Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial support to Sleepy Eye Medical Center. The mission of the foundation is to provide excellent healthcare to SEMC patients and enhance the wellness and quality of life in the communities we serve.
