A coronary calcium scan is a fast, painless CT scan that checks for calcium (plaque) in your heart’s arteries. Your results are given as a calcium score, which shows your risk for heart disease. Knowing your score helps you and your care team take steps to protect your heart health—before problems develop.

This test uses sound waves to create moving pictures of your heart. It shows how your heart pumps and how blood flows through its chambers and valves. Echocardiograms can detect issues such as valve problems or weakened heart muscle and may be recommended if you have symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath.

An electrocardiogram is a quick, painless test that measures your heart’s electrical activity. An ECG shows your heart rate and rhythm and can detect irregular beats, signs of a past heart attack, or causes of chest pain. It’s often used if you have symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath, or a fluttering heartbeat.

A stress test shows how your heart works during physical activity. By monitoring your heart’s response while you walk on a treadmill, your care team can identify conditions such as coronary artery disease or irregular heart rhythms.

The Zio Patch is a small, comfortable device worn on your chest that records your heart’s activity over time. You can press a button if you notice symptoms, and the device keeps track. Once your monitoring is done, you simply mail the patch back. Your provider reviews the results with you and discusses next steps.
