For the safety of our patients, staff and visitors, we have guidelines for various service areas.
General Guidelines for All Visitors
- All visitors will be screened for symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Those who do not pass will not be allowed to accompany or visit a patient. Please refrain from visiting if you are not feeling well.
- Hospital visitors should check-in at the Nurses Station.
- Visitors must wear a mask. We have masks available if you do not have one.
- At this time, we do not allow visitors under the age of five.
- Children should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- All visitors must practice hand hygiene frequently.
- Check with a nurse before giving any food or drink to a patient.
- Heed any advice or instruction provided by staff before entering a patient's room.
- Only latex-free (Mylar) balloons, please.
- Avoid sitting or lying on the patient’s bed.
- Refrain from smoking on campus. Sleepy Eye Medical Center is tobacco free.
- Inpatient visiting hours: 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Note: Visitor guidelines may be altered at the discretion of the individual in direction of the care team.
Clinic, Urgent Care, Outreach, Laboratory, and Radiology Patients
If space is limited, individuals accompanying patients may be asked to wait in a location of proximity.
Labor and Delivery
- Visitors under age 5 will not be allowed to visit unless they are from the same household.
Visitors of COVID-19 Positive Patients
COVID-19 positive patients will be limited to 2 visitors per day. These visitors must pass SEMC's screening process.
- Visitors will be informed of the risks and required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Visitors must perform hand hygiene upon entering and exiting the patients room
- Visitors will not be allowed to visit other patients and should leave the building promptly after exiting the patient's room
Hospital and Emergency Department
If space is limited, individuals accompanying patients may be asked to wait in a location of proximity.
