As of July 6, 2020, only one consistent visitor is allowed per patient per day at Sleepy Eye Medical Center Hospital and Clinics. Pediatric patients (under the age of 18) will be allowed two legal guardian/parent visitors. Details to this policy are outlined below.
Hospital Visiting Hours
10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
*Note: Hospital visitor hours are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for compassionate exceptions.
Visitor Guidelines
- Visitors will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 and must pass screening to visit a patient.
- Visitors must wear a mask and symptom-screening sticker at all times during the visit.
- Visitors must use hand hygiene frequently during their visit and maintain social distance.
- Visitors should limit time spent outside of the patient room.
- Visitors under the age of 18 will not be allowed.
Patient-Specific Visitor Guidelines
Clinic Patients
Includes outpatient appointments: Laboratory, Radiology, Rehabilitation, etc.
- One visitor will be allowed during the patient’s appointment.
COVID-19 or Suspected COVID-19 Patients
- Visitors will not be allowed, except under compassionate exceptions.
Emergency Department Patients
- One visitor will be allowed for each patient.
- Pediatric patients may have two visitors (parents or legal guardians).
Labor and Delivery Patients
- One support person (visitor) will be allowed during delivery and the patient’s hospital stay.
- Please note: a doula is considered a “support person.”
- A second visitor will be allowed following delivery. One consistent second visitor is allowed per day.
Surgery Patients
- One visitor will be allowed prior to surgery. The visitor may wait in a waiting area or the patient’s room (if available).
- Pediatric patients may have two visitors (parents or legal guardians).
Patients Requesting Spiritual Care
- Patients may have one clergy member visitor. The clergy member is not considered the one visitor for the patient.
