bl_line

Suggested Visting Hours are 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Any adult or child visitor should be in good health and free of respiratory infections or other communicable diseases.

Limiting the number and length of time visitors stay provides the patient with a more restful recovery. Visitors are asked not to sit or lie on the patient beds or on the unoccupied bed nor should they use either bed for personal articles such as purses, coats, etc.

Children visitors: When children visit they are requested to stay in the patient’s room under adult supervision.

Clergy may visit anyone at anytime, with patient and/or family permission.

Obstetrics/Nursery: Any visitor or relative who will be in contact with a newborn, please check at the nurses desk prior to visiting.

High Observation Care: Family members may have ten minute visits every hour, subject to the patient’s condition. Please check with a nurse for possible exceptions.

Latex Rubber Balloons Not Allowed nlAt the Sleepy Eye Medical Center, we understand that when a loved one is in the hospital, family and friends may bring get-well or celebratory gifts – including balloons. Due to potential latex allergies we will no longer allow latex (rubber) balloons within our facility. This change in policy is designed to protect patients and staff from the risk of allergic reactions to latex. If you choose to bring balloons, we allow Mylar balloons (these are made of thin, reflective material). Mylar balloons are the safe alternative to latex balloons. Visitors who bring latex balloons into the facility will be asked to return them to their car. Reactions to latex poses a health issue and we are acting in the interests of our patients and staff. A person with latex allergies may experience symptoms ranging from hives and swelling to respiratory failure.

Cell phones may be used with discretion in other areas of the medical center. Patients and visitors may be asked to discontinue the use of the cell phone if it is disrupting the care of the patient.
